Booking and Project Enquiries

Are you taking projects right now?

Yes, we are taking projects, but we have a policy that we don’t take projects closer to a week away from launch. This is to make sure our team is available. You may also find that during December we only take clients for the new year, but book a 1:1 and we can certainly squeeze you in.

How do I book with you?

Visit our Contact page to book a 1:1 for us to go over your project and speak to a member of our team about our availability.

How do I book a 1:1?

You can use the portal here, alternatively, you can also email at hello@wearealchemystudios.com with the subject '1:1'.

What can I expect at a 1:1?

You can expect to hear from a member of our team who is eager to learn all about your business and your specific needs. We will talk over any ideas you have and look at any references you mention or provide. You will then be offered expert advice on what ideas stand out and why, as well as explaining and exploring the references and providing case studies (if applicable) of previous projects, and ideas of cost based on our internal scoring system. You will also learn about the process and have any questions you have answered. If you are eager to proceed, we will arrange another call to go over the final quote and the contracts.

What happens after my 1:1?

After the 1:1 you will receive a summary of the call so you can review any information and ideas provided. You will also receive a quote and an invitation to talk over any questions you may have.

Do you take international clients?

We are happy to take international clients, but we ask that you respect time zone differences and delays in response times and receiving payments. We understand that international clients still wish to acquire our services and we will do everything we can to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Project and Scope

How long does it take to animate something?

We apply a pricing system to every project. The best way to understand it is we mark each project by animation complexity of a number between 1 - 5, (5 being the highest and 1 being the lowest), then we look at the budget of your project, rating again between 1 - 5. Finally, we score the project on its scope, and score again in the same system. For example, something suitable for broadcast would have a larger scope, and therefore take longer than a project for social media. Once we have all these metrics, we pit the score against our internal system that calculates the schedule, budget, and expected delivery of the project. Allowing a 10 percent contingency of timelines and scope creep, the project is then broken down into deliverable packages and the quote is sent regarding each package.

Do you take unsolicited scripts or ideas for animation?

Not currently but subscribe to our monthly newsletter and we will make it clear when we have competitions open to take on scripts or project pitches.

Do you do graphic design?

We don’t currently offer a graphic design service, but we have some fantastic design houses we have collaborated with that we would be happy to put you in touch with.

Do you do videography or post-production?

At this time we don’t offer post-production or videography services, but we have some excellent talent that we can recommend more locally to your project and would be happy to share this information during a 1:1.

What software do you animate in?

A combination of Toon Boom Harmony and After Effects is the industry standard that our team is currently trained in. If you would like to recommend your animation software or would like to know what training routes we recommend for you to become familiar with this, drop us an email at hello@wearealchemystudios.com with the subject ‘Software’. Many members of the team offer workshops and courses on the software they use, so subscribe to the newsletter for updates.

What’s the biggest project you would be willing to do?

If you are a company, streaming platform, or broadcast commissioner that is looking to commission a feature film or series we would love to help you. This is the largest scale we could reasonably offer. Drop us an email at hello@wearealchemystudios.com.

Will I be able to post the animation on social media/my website?

Yes, once the final animation is delivered to you, you can distribute it as you see fit. We do ask that if you post anything you tag our socials so we can share the work we’ve done with our network, and we also ask you allow us to promote the animation on our website, etc.

What happens if I’m not happy with the animation?

We have frequent check-ins with you and our process is created in such a way that we offer storyboards as part of our production package. This means that we draw out the full animation before animating it. At any point during the storyboard process you can change the project, cut scenes, and alter what happens. During our process we account for a review stage at the end of every milestone to ensure you're happy with the direction of the project as we go.

Can I take anything you’ve done and get it animated by someone else?

It’s stated in our contract that you are not able to take assets or designs that the studio has created and take them to another animation studio. We do however offer excellent support along the way so it’s unlikely you will ever need to. We are also open to reproducing work if there is someone else you'd like to work with. We often collaborate with videographers and designers and love working as part of a multi-skilled / multi-disciplined team.

Do I have to pay for my music?

Yes, we will offer a few different packages depending on the sound design you need and work with some excellent studios and composers to get you phenomenal sound.

Is the animation broadcast ready?

Yes, we have a fantastic broadcast-experienced team that is very much capable of creating adverts, campaigns, series, and films that are broadcast-ready.

Booking and Pricing

How can you guarantee you have time booked out for this project?

By having a system in place where you pay a deposit for 30 percent of the project upfront, you essentially book in the studio time for the duration of the project. This way we can make sure we have the resources available to offer you the best product and make sure your project is delivered as expected.

What if I have a limited budget?

Due to our scoring system, we will be able to fit the scope of the project around your budget. We do ask that you are honest and upfront about any timescales and budget limitations you have so we can factor this into your quote.

Payment, Quotes and Contracts

What’s the returns policy?

Since you are asking for a bespoke service, we don’t offer you to return a service to us. We do however allow several problem-solving measures whilst the project is live, such as a review stage at the end of every milestone, in which we are willing to go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with the result.

How long do I have to make a decision on a provided quote?

We have no time limit, but we do however ask that you keep in mind that quotes are subject to the time they are issued and can change. We also ask that you keep in mind that time you wanted may get booked in with another client in the meantime, so the sooner you can make any decisions, the better.

Once I have made a decision who do I send the money to?

We take all payments through Crezco or direct transfer to the business bank account.

I want to see the contracts in person or have them sent to me. Is that possible?

Certainly, we are happy to send contracts in person for you to review with any relevant parcels; we just ask that you do not release these into the public domain and that you can cover secure tracked post. We are also happy to go over them in person with you; simply book a 1:1.

Do you take PayPal payments?

We do, but we ask that you allow extra time for us to receive the payment since it has to be in the business bank account before the time is officially booked.

Internships, Careers, and Training

What are your training and qualifications?

Trained by Tom Walsh (Lead animator - Tarzan) and Richard Haynes (Wallace and Gromit), our team has extensive studio experience on many productions for broadcast and beyond, (Netflix, Disney, Nick Jr., Aardman). Book a 1:1 or attend a Q&A webinar to learn more.

Do you have any jobs available?

If you go to the 'Careers' tab you can see the jobs we are hiring for. We also take spec CVs so feel free to send those to hello@wearealchemystudios.com. If you want to get feedback and advice on the application you’ve sent through, we run quarterly portfolio reviewing sessions, so subscribe to the newsletter to learn when these will be taking place and for more advice.

Do you take interns?

We are not currently taking any interns, but we do take work experience once a year. Subscribe to the newsletter to find out when to apply. We also encourage young people eager for a challenge to volunteer with our wonderful team at Leamington Spa Animation Nights to help us put on charity events and allow animation to be seen by more people.
